At Saturn: Tripping the Flight Fantastic Carolyn Porco
ABOUT THE EVENT
Boulder planetary scientist Carolyn Porco, leader of the imaging team for NASA's Cassini mission to Saturn and science advisor for the forthcoming "Star Trek" movie, will take the public on a magical mystery tour of the ringed planet and its companions in a free lecture to be given April 28, 2008 on the CU-Boulder campus.Porco is a frequent commentator on science, astronomy and space exploration, and is renowned for her skill in communicating science to the public. Her inspiring presentations have been acclaimed by audiences across the U.S., Canada and Europe, and recently won her an invitation to join the production crew for the forthcoming "Star Trek" film. Star Trek's director/producer is J.J. Abrams, writer/producer of "Lost" and director of "Mission: Impossible III." "Star Trek" is slated for release in May 2009.Porco's talk will be held in the University Memorial Center Glenn Miller Ballroom, at 1669 Euclid Ave., on Mon. April 28, 2008 at 7:30pm.
